http://www.theitmom.com/2012/03/pinterest-need-to-lose-5-lbs-of-water-weight-take-the-jillian-michaels-challenge-with-me/
After our vacation, I really needed to kick start my diet back. Ever since Easter the scale has been a-creepin' up and I had hit and surpassed that number that told me to start reigning it in. The website has this really good video on it too. It really is Jillian Michaels and my favorite part is where she tells me I can drink caffeine. YESSSSSSS!
I drank this for 7 days. I ate a healthy diet--nothing crazy but just stuck to my regular My Fitness Pal app goals. I will sheepishly admit I didn't even exercise. I didn't mind the taste. I like water with lemon and when it was cold, to me that is what it tasted like. If it came to room temperature, the dandelion root flavor was more noticeable and it tasted remeniscent of hose water. Not really preferable, but something I can drink anyway.
This is what 60 oz looks like. |
After the first 24 hours, I was down three pounds. When my husband heard this, he got in on the action, too. I kind of plateaued there for a few days. On day 6 I was down 6.2 pounds and then I went out for fondue for my girlfriend's birthday celebration. After the 7th day, and after a night of fonude and wine, I was still down a total of 4.4 pounds.
Yes, I know it is just water weight. I know it will come back easily. However, it was a fabulous way to get me going on my diet again. I have never, ever felt less bloated--especially in my belly. This really flattened out my belly like no ab circut ever has. This would be a great way to slim down before a big event.
So now, a few days off the drink, I am still down 5 pounds. My belly is not as flat as it was on day 7, but the weight is staying off--for now. I am trying to keep up my water consumption. I was curious all along if you would have the same results with a dedicated 60 oz per day of straight water, but I don't think so. I don't know how this small amount of additives really works, I figured it would be so diluted that the effect couldn't really be that strong.
It is a diuretic. I'm not going to get all nurse-y on you and tell you all the signs and symptoms that led me to that conclusion, but I am going to get a little nurse-y on you and tell you that you should not do this if you are already taking diuretics or have kidney disease. If you have any health problems for which you take medications, you should check with your doctor before adding anything with diuretic effects to your regimen and before adding any alternative medicine (like herbal tea). Okay. Nursely advice over.
Total cost: $10 (Dandelion root tea was around $8 for 30 bags) You could do this 5 times with the amount of supplies, so really it is more like $2
Total time: Easily fit into my daily routine. It takes less than 5 minutes to mix it up daily for 7 days.
Final verdict: I wouldn't recommend this to everyone for reasons stated above. However, it was amazingly awesome. Best kick start to a diet ever. I will do this again. Either before a big event or as a post-vacation detox.
UPDATE 7/18/12:
There have been tons of questions in the comments so I will try to address these here:
1. Where can I find dandelion root tea?
I found it at Vitamin Shoppe and GNC. Many people reported finding it at Wal-Mart and Target with the teas/coffees.
2. Can I do this everyday instead of just 7 days?
I would not recommend that. It is a diuretic drink. Doing this everyday could mess up your electrolyte balance. After seven days, switch to plain water. Reserved this treatment for once every few months or so.
3. Do you eat while doing this?
Absolutely!! Eat a normal, balanced, healthy diet. I ate exactly the same quality/quantity of food as I do every other day of the month.
4. Do you drink anything else while doing this?
Absolutely! I, personally, tried to stay away from anything with artificial ingredients and sugary drinks. I drank coffee in the morning, black, no sugar or cream. After 60 oz of this, I drank as much plain water or unsweetened tea as I wanted.
5. I did not have any side effects other than increased urination and weight loss while doing this. If you experience any concerning side effects stop drinking this immediately!
Information below from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine:
Side Effects and Cautions
- Dandelion use is generally considered safe. However, there have been rare reports of upset stomach and diarrhea, and some people are allergic to the plant.
- People with an inflamed or infected gallbladder, or blocked bile ducts, should avoid using dandelion.
- Tell all your health care providers about any complementary and alternative practices you use. Give them a full picture of what you do to manage your health. This will help ensure coordinated and safe care. For tips about talking with your health care providers about CAM, see NCCAM's Time to Talk campaign.
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/706.html
A few excerpt from the link above:
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Not enough is known about the use of dandelion during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.
Ragweed allergy: Dandelion can cause allergic reactions when taken by mouth or applied to the skin of sensitive people. People who are allergic to ragweed and related plants (daisies, chrysanthemums, marigolds) are likely to be allergic to dandelion. If you have allergies, be sure to check with your healthcare provider before taking dandelion.
Be cautious using dandelion while also taking antibiotics, lithium, any medications changed by the liver (click the link above to see a list of these), and diuretics or "water-pills."
6. Can I substitute...?
I did not create the detox or study the recipe and results. Jillian Michaels did. I followed the directions exactly, but substitutions may work. If you substitute and it works or doesn't work, leave a comment here so we can share the information.
Liz...where did you find dandelion root tea? Whole Foods? Going to give this a try. Been doing Jillian Michaels and starting insanity program in a week but def worth since getting off our cruise and back up on numbers I dont want to be at
ReplyDeleteI found it at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. It was pretty easy to find. I think Wal-Mart might have even had it.
DeleteWhere at Wal-Mart?
DeleteI saw it at Wal-Mart on-line, but if you are in store I would look by the herbals/vitamins.
DeleteI have found it at Wal-mart in the aisle with all the other teas and coffee :)
DeleteI found mine in the health food section of my local grocery store, Frys, which is Kroger, Ralphs or Fred Meyers in other areas of the country
DeleteI found mine at Target with the herbal tea's
DeleteHey I have a question, I am on my first day and it had the taste of black licorice... Did I get the wrong tea or does that sound right? Thanks!
DeleteHow often in one day do I have to drink the tea?
Deletesorry question,...60 ounces a day (which i think youre saying)& (make new mix every morning) or 60 0nces over seven days.....
ReplyDeleteok i just clicked link above and answered my questions ...Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCrystalco, is it 60 oz/day or for the whole week?
ReplyDeleteit says on the black and white poster that the intake is 60 oz per day.
ReplyDeleteIt is 60 oz per day.
ReplyDeleteSo here is my question. Is the 60oz all the water I get for the day? I normally drink alot more than that in a day so I didn't know if I could still drink regular water after I finish the 60oz.
DeleteOnce I drank the 60 oz, I continuted to drink additional water as much as I wanted. I also drank coffee in the morining as well--black, no sugar, no cream.
DeleteAre you supposed to ONLY drink this for 7 days without eating anything or are you supposed to drink this and have light/ healthy meals with it?
ReplyDeleteHeavens, NO! Do not starve yourself! I ate my regular diet. I even went out for a girls night of fondue and wine and still lost weight. Yes, stick to a healthy diet. Eat a reaonable amount of calories, eat nutritious food, eat things you know are healthy. Seven days of just this drink could make you seriously ill! Please, please eat along with this if you try it. Starving yourself will send your body into conservation mode and you will not lose weight in a healthy way, not to mention you will be tired, sluggish, and GRUMPY!! I do not support or recommend no food.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz, do you think you could drink this every day and it will still be as effective, or do you only recommend drinking it for the first seven days?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. However, it is a powerful diuretic and you probably shouldn't take diuretics every day unless you have a medical need for them. You could really mess up your electrolyte balance that way. I would stick to plain water after 7 days. Maybe reserve this for every three months or so.
DeleteI have done this drink on and off for a couple of years now. I don't recommend longer than a week. I tried it longer than a week and I began to notice an extreme thirst that couldn't be quenched. It's mainly the dandelion that is the diuretic. I agree, it's a great kick start and de-bloat. Use fresh lemon juice if you can (for the best taste) and make sure you are using 100% cranberry, not the cocktail.
DeleteDo you think this would work without the cranberry juice or is it a must have for the recipie? I'm thinking about trying this and we happened to have dandelion root tea so all i need is cranberry juice. Also, do you brew the tea bag in the 60 oz of water?
ReplyDeleteI really couldn't say. I didn't create this recipe. I really have no idea how the ingredients all work together. I just know they worked together for me!
DeleteOkay, i'll just go and buy the cranberry juice haha. Also, how do you incorporate the tea? Do you just put tea bag in water or do you brew it in the 60 oz?
DeleteI didn't brew it first. I just tossed everything in together and let it sit in the fridge overnight.
DeleteI just started this today and I just want to point out that if the taste bothers you adding a little extra lemon juice (fresh lemons) helps. I personally just think it taste's like ice water with lemons which is probably my favorite thing to drink when I'm thirsty. I would add more lemons before adding the cranberry juice. BTW I couldn't find sugar free cranberry juice..I''m not normally a juice drinker so maybe I wasn't looking in the right place.. I just bought diet cranberry juice (2 grams of sugar in a cup) it's the best I could find! Also I didn't boil the tea I just put it in and let it sit in my picture for 5 minutes or so.
ReplyDeleteI want to try this.. what exactly are the ingrediants and how do you make it.. also how much do you drink a day?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteCheck out the poster above...it has the ingredients. Also, you can read the other comments to find out how to make it.
I used lime juice instead (couldn't find my lemons). I also had already made dandelion root tea so I just added it. should it still work?
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me! Let us know if it works for you. Good luck!
DeleteI started this today! Found the Dandelion Root Tea at Walmart in the Tea section, it's the Traditional Medicinals EveryDay Detox tea. This drink is easy to make, and doesn't taste too bad. It's definitely better when it's cold. I added an additional tbsp of cranberry juice for taste. Hoping for good short-term results :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
DeleteTarget has the dandelion root tea in the tea section. Now unsweetened cranberry juice is difficult to find but I chose a organic version that did not much sugar. Not so sure this is a good idea for anyone who wants to lose weight b/c if you gain it back, what is the point? I will try and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteis it okay to add splenda to this tea for a better taste?
ReplyDeleteI would stay away from adding anything sugar or sugary, artificial or natural. Splenda is derived from a sugar. It specifically calls for sugar-free cranberry. Artificial sugars are known to increase sugar cravings as well, which may not be helpful if you are trying to lose weight. I looked at it as a detox to remove all the chemically, processed food from my system, which would include artifical sugars.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThanks so much for posting this info! I found the dandilion tea easily but SUGAR FREE cranberry juice or does the Oceanspray no sugar added work? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCranberry juice concentrate can be found at GNC. It's unsweetened and very concentrated.
ReplyDeleteso going to try this! i live in israel, so finding dandilion root tea bags would be almost impossible im sure, so i already ordered them online! excited to try this!

Would it be harmful to do this all the time, not just for 7 days? To keep the weight off, of loose more?
ReplyDeleteI would not recommend doing this everyday. After 7 days I would switch to just plain water. Reserve this for every few months.
Deletehi! i have a wedding on saturday and i just came across this post.. will i still feel thinner and lose weight even if its not the full seven days if i start tomorrow.. or will i end up bloated more?
ReplyDeleteI would think so. I did.
DeletePlease lizzy the cranberry juice is it the power or is a juice liquid and also do you have to eat or u live on just the water for 7 days??
DeleteHi Liz! I am on Day 1 of this and I'm just wondering, did it happen to give you kind of an heavy, heartburn-y feel in your throat or chest? I'm wondering if it is just me and I'm allergic to Dandelion (I looked it up and symptoms seem to be more severe... fever, rash, etc.) Anyway, just wanted to know if it was normal or if it is just me!
ReplyDeleteOh no! That does not sound good at all. I would probably abandon this now! I do not think that is normal.
DeleteLizzy I found "Everyday Detox" made with organic dandelion root, and Ocean Spray Light Cranberry Juice will these work?
ReplyDeleteThe strength of dandelion root isnt the same in everyday detox.
DeleteSo cool. I will def. have to try this. There is nothing better than loosing weight to motivate you to lose more weight :)
ReplyDeleteIs it safe to do this while nursing?
ReplyDeleteI would not recommend it. Check out the links in the update to the post. In addition to the unknown effects/excretion of dandelion in breast milk, the diuretic effects may cause your milk supply to decrease or dry up all together.
DeleteThought that might be the case. Not worth the 5 lbs! Thanks I'll keep this is mind for when I'm done. Loved looking through your blog. You're such a cute mama.
DeleteAccording do my dr and lactation consultant dandelion increases our milk supply . I am on day 3 of this and no issues at all. I am having to pump so I can tell the difference in my milk supply. If you talk to your dr and they are ok with it I would go for it
DeleteJust FYI, I took a concentrated dandelion tincture during pregnancy to battle swelling (it works every time!!) so I'm pretty sure you can drink the less concentrated tea without a problem. I'd almost bet that it's the dandelion that is the diuretic and is the ingredient that best helps with this whole process. If you'd rather, take the dandelion tincture (get it at a health food store) mixed with a shot glass (1oz) of apple juice three times each day.
DeleteHi, started yesterday, but using regular bottled water - couldn't find distilled in the store and was too lazy to go somewhere else :). Does it have to be distilled?
ReplyDeleteso bummed to hear about the effects on your milk supply. I was so excited to do this!! was tempted to even pump extra for a couple days to have enough to give through a bottle for the week i did this and them pump and toss the milk which would be easy since my baby is old enough and only nursing 3-4 times a day now.....Totally not worth the risk of completely drying up though what a bummer :(
ReplyDeleteI am on day 3 of this. After talking to y lactation consultant she said dandelion actually increased your milk supply and is great for nursing an pregnant women. So far my milk is great and I am even having to pump. Normally I do not pump .
DeleteI've been drinking this the week before my period for the last 3 months and it has helped immensely. I no long have cramps and I'm not irritable.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the directions to make this? Is it just dandelion and water or do I have to do other things to it?
ReplyDeleteJK. I just noticed the picture at the top with the ingredients and directions! My bad!
Deletereally? Bec I see no directions or ingredients listed anywhere!? Direc me please.
DeleteThe black and white picture at the top... It's a girl in her lingerie haha. The recipe directions are ON the picture.
Deletei can't find a recipe either. no black and white picture just a jug of the tea. when i click it it says page not found?
DeleteDo you think it is ok to do this while on weight watchers?
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS AMAZING. I am really happy with my weight and don't have any to loose but I wanted to do it for water retention during my period. I lost 4 lbs. in 7 days and i had ab cuts. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! So glad it worked for you too!
DeleteDo you have to brew the tea hot for this to work? Or can you just put the tea bag in the cold water?
ReplyDeleteI threw it all together, cold water and all, and let it steep in the fridge overnight.
DeleteNewly following! Found u on Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad to have you :)
DeleteI have stupid question....do you open the tea bag? Or just kinda place it in there? Sorry, Im a bit confused.
ReplyDeleteOh! Nvm, I just needed to scroll up a little bit.
DeleteOK, I must be really stupid..I don't see an actual recipe for this here??? Clearly you make 60oz of water w/ the tea bags, but how many? And where did the lemon come in?
ReplyDeleteThe recipe and directions are in the very top picture of the post. You can also click on the link at the top to find out more.
Deletethe link doesn't work it say page not found but brings up a page but nothing stating how to make it, and only pic i can see is the jug of tea
DeleteHi! So let me just clear things up- you were able to drink it as is? Was it not bitter for you? Or did you not leave the tea bag in the boiling water for long? I left it for about 30 mins and I guess the dandelion taste was very strong! How long did you let it steep?
ReplyDeleteShe does not brew the water with the dandelion bag. She throws the one tea bag, lemon juice, and cranberry juice altogether in 60 oz of water, and let's it sit overnight. I haven't tried this yet, my first day is tomorrow so I'm not sure how strong the taste is. But from previous posts if it is too strong, try adding an extra tablespoon of cranberry juice or an extra tablespoon of lemon.
DeleteOh wow thanks!! Makes a lot more sense to me now :) Appreciate it!
Deletehi i'm a senior..and only want to lose about 5-6 lbs. ..i eat healthy, .so just the 7 days should work for me?..i'd even be happy with 4-5 ..i love water anyway..so hope this will work for me..thx loves ya
ReplyDeleteme again.. we eat dandelion leaves in our salads..so hopefully should be ok with the tea..i shop GNC anyway so will probly find the supplies there..will keep you posted..loves ya
ReplyDeletedo you have to buy distilled water, or can you use the water from the faucet? :) and you just let the tea bag sit in there?
ReplyDeleteDoes the cranberry juice need to be 100% juice? I couldn't find sugar free, but did get one that has 1 gram of sugar, but only 7% juice. All the one's that are 100% have a ton of sugar. So is it pointless for me to drink since the cranberry juice is only 7% juice?
ReplyDeleteCan I make it the night before? I didnt know if thamtwould be too long for the tea to be in the drink.
ReplyDeleteThats what I did.
DeleteI read the post and mad my decision to give it a try a found it online from AMAZON it only costs around $8 . Hope it works out for me. I really need to loos many pounds that maybe a good jump start . Thank you
ReplyDeleteHere is the web site it might make it easy for those who look for it.http://www.amazon.com/Dandelion-Root-Tea-30-Bag/dp/B00020HHO0
Did you know that if you drink the right tea at the right time, you can actually shrink fat cells. Drinking tea is one of the easiest and most natural ways to lose weight. The tea diet is a great and an easy way to increase weight loss so incorporate tea into your daily diet. And this tea diet includes dandelion root tea.
ReplyDeleteYou actually would get the same results with water and a healthy diet. Why detox??? All you need to do after a vacation of unhealthy eating is to get back to your previously healthy routine, if you had one. In addition, eating fruits and vegetables that already have water in them such as celery, cucumber, and watermelon will help you get rid of all the salt you retained on vacation. The detox cleanse you drank did not make you lose actual pounds, although the scale will tell you otherwise. You actually lost water weight, which can fluctuate from day to day, depending on what you ate.
ReplyDeleteHow often would you recommend doing this? Once a month? Once every three months?
ReplyDeleteDiet Smoothies are not only great to have when your trying to reduce your sugar take, but they are also convenient and easy to incorporate into your diet plan.
ReplyDeleteJust make extra servings and fill up some plastic drink containers and put in the frig for a quick on the go breakfast or lunch. Here are some diet smoothie recipes that will fill you up and crub your hunger, so you don't indulge on those high sugar impulse snacks.
So you drink 60 oz of this drink everyday for 7 days, or the 60oz is for the whole 7 days, a little confused, but I would really love to try this! Thxs
ReplyDeleteRead the whole post above. :)
DeleteAnd the first few comments.
DeleteI got the Yogi detox with organic dandelion. I don't know if that's the right kind. What brand is the best or which one did you use?
ReplyDeleteI just made this up. I did it a little differently. I used filtered water as that's what I have. I measured out 60 oz in a pitcher to see where to fill it too. I boiled some water and put a dandelion tea bag and a tea ball with 1/4 cup dried nettles in the bottom, poured boiled filtered water to cover and let steep 15 min. I then added the juice of 2 key limes (I had them on hand. I'd say that equals the juice of 1/2 lemon, about 2 tablespoons. The key limes are more acidic and flavorful than a regular lemon. I used 2 tablespoons Ocean Spray 100% Juice No Sugar Added. I left the tea in the pitcher. It tastes delicious. I think the nettle cuts the bitter flavor of dandelion. It has many beneficial effects for woman. I'll let you know my results.
ReplyDeleteJust bought all the stuff to make this and start tomorrow! Very excited to see the results. I only drink water and unsweetened tea so I want to see if this helps with the other additives.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
DeleteFound you through your pinterest pin for this post. Love finding other nurse bloggers! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteDo you drink 60oz throughout the day or all at once?
ReplyDeleteHow ever long it takes. 60 oz all at once would be difficult. Nothing about this was painful or difficult for me.
Deletesince the page is not found....can you tell exactly what the recipe said? i see in comments you mentioned the dandelion tea, cranberry juice unsweetened and lemon juice...but no directions
ReplyDeletehow many bags of the dandelion tea make 60 oz?
how much cranberry juice and how much lemon juice?
thanks for any help
The recipe is on the picture at the top of this page. Scroll back to the top of your screen.
DeleteHas anyone found a substitute for the dandelion root tea bag that is more or just as effective? I had a ragweed allergy...thanks!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried this with pure distilled water? The reason I ask is because distilled water seems like it is doing the heavy lifting in this recipe. Given that distilled water is just water that doesn't have minerals, you're essentially flushing your body out over and over with pure clean water. The health benefits of distilled water are split, some saying it's good for you, some saying it's bad, and I'm not arguing for either, just wondering if this would work without the tea, lemon juice and cranberry juice. If no one has, I might experiment with doing both, once with the recipe given here, once with pure distilled water :-)
ReplyDeleteMaybe this question was already addressed. But I completely avoid aspartame and all other artificial sweeteners so when it states using a "sugar free" juice I was wondering if there is asubstitute?
ReplyDeleteAlison,
DeleteThey make no sugar added/ 100% cranberry juice. I know Ocean Spray has one, I believe Langers is another. A lot of the more natural brands.
Starting this today. I used bottle water though. Hopefuly that doesn't make a big difference. It tastes totally fine to me no bitterness at all and easy to drink. Wonding if its so good because I didn't use the distilled water which I've heard has a bad taste to it?
ReplyDeleteHow much of sugar free cranberry juice should I put? I lookwd the picture many yimes but not sure either 3 or 8
ReplyDeleteit says A tablespoon of Cranberry
DeleteJust found your blog, thru Pinterest! shocker! :)
ReplyDeleteAnyways I'm your newest follower! LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!!
i had to read this a couple times, but there is no measurements/recipie.... will you share?
ReplyDeleteHi lizzy! I read your blog, and I started to drink the mix today! But I have a question. Am I suppose to drink the 60oz per day or divide the 60oz throughout the 7 days?
ReplyDeleteI have been drinking this tea for three days and I have gained two pounds, is that normal??
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blog! I've committed to doing the DIY thing at LEAST once a month too! This one's a favorite of mine - check it out!
ReplyDeletehttp://gimmejakesauvage.com/2012/01/08/diychocolatemask/
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I was wondering, should I stick to actual lemons, or is it possible to use lemon juice concentrate?
Very interested! I'm still looking to see if anyone's found a substitute for the dandelion root tea though. I'm very allergic to ragweed and flowers, so I'd probably have a severe adverse reaction to the tea.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning on trying this in a few days. It got so many positive comments and I'm willing to try it but I can't quite make out the words on the picture above, the words are blurry can anyone give me the whole ingredients? Please and thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI noticed you said you just let the tea cold brew. The brand of dandelion root tea that I bought said if using the tea for medicinal purposes it was best to let simmer after coming to a roaring boil for 15-20 mins. I am boiling the 60oz plus a few more due to evaporation. Also boiling water first purifies the water if you don't want to buy distilled.
ReplyDeleteDandelions grow everywhere! Just make sure the ones you harvest aren't being sprayed with pesticides. Pick a few dandelions, roots and all, rinse well and put in the food processor to finely chop. Let air dry for about a week or put in the oven at 170 for a couple hours and you have dandelion tea. AND you wildcrafted it yourself! Yay you!
ReplyDeleteI clicked the link to theitmom & it's saying that it's no longer available. Can anyone give me the recipe please?
ReplyDeleteI sound really stupid asking these questions but I need to know, do you brew the tea first? did you drink it hot, cold, room temp? what exactly do you do with the tea bag (sorry I'm not an avid tea drinker)?
ReplyDeleteThis was the worst "fad" I've tried. Was not feeling bloated beforehand but felt so painfully bloated the entire time. Completely halted my weight-loss that had been a good slow-steady. That's pretty hard on a 1200 calorie diet.
ReplyDeleteMade the recipe exact.
Do you leave the tea bag in the water until it is gone and then get a new one for the next day, or do you only let it steep for a certain amount of time?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get theitmom link to work either. In other places the recipe has lemon juice and cranberry juice. I want to make sure I do it right! Please help!
ReplyDeleteI also can't get the link to work but I am able to see the picture it says...
Delete60oz distilled water
1tablespoon sugar free cranberry juice
1dandelion root tea bag
2tablespoon lemon juice
You drink 60oz per day for 7days.
OK, I read nearly every question above, so that I could try to avoid asking a repeat question... But, I read in one of Lizzy's answers to some one, that she paid $8 for 30 bags and could make the mixture 5 times with that amount. Wouldnt that mean she placed 6 bags in the pitcher at once and not just 1?
ReplyDeleteEven the tea box says you can have 3 cups a day and thats only 24 onouces of water. Sooooo.... I'm wondering what you all think?
Its quite simple. Pour 60oz of water, add a tea bag, add cranberry juice, add lemon. Allow tea bag to sit for a couple minutes depending on how strong you like it. Take out bag, stir. Drink.
DeleteThis detox did not work for me. I'm not sure if its because I drink on average 120+ oz of water already, but I stayed around the same weight the entire week. I did fluctuate between 1 and 2 pounds but that's perfectly normal.
ReplyDeleteI will say that the flavor of the drink was not overwhelming so any one who is not used to getting a lot of fluids I would definitely recommend you try it to see if it works.
I had no problem drinking this but after a week i gained 5 pounds.. wth! i never have gained weight that fast before. but honestly ever since i turned 40.. nothing works.
ReplyDeleteI did this about a month and a half ago and am doing it again because moving and craziness made me start eating crap all the time. haha Anyway, I started using the dandelion root tea (I found it at Wegman's which is a Northeast grocery store chain) but after the first couple days it made me incredibly sick to my stomach. So, I Googled this recipe and found that others have substituted green tea if the dandelion has made them ill or they just don't like the taste. I use Celestial Seasonings Green Tea with mint. It's delicious this way.
ReplyDeleteSomebody likes the way you write so much that they copied your study and didn't give you credit...
ReplyDeletehttp://cherilicious-cherisblog.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-to-make-jillian-michaels-anti-bloat.html
Well...there's a link, but still.
DeleteThanks so much for the tip! I appreciate it!
Deletedo you just cut open the tead bag and pour it in or do you actually make the tea?
ReplyDeleteYou actually make the tea. I just dropped it in the pitcher and let it steep overnight in the fridge. Others have reported preparing it properly using hot water and then adding it in once brewed.
Deletehow did you do the dandelion tea? did you steep it in boiled water and then add the water to fulfill the 60 oz? or did you just set the dandelion tea bag in the pitcher for a while? thanks so much for posting all this helpful information!
ReplyDeleteSee the response above :)
DeleteThis sounds wonderful I'm going to do this every 3 months! I already watch my weight, workout,I might start this Friday , just drink water, u can have stevia ( no artificial sugar or crap in it in your coffee to sweetener , I get mine from www.bulkherb.com , I'm going to look for the tea there too. Thanks for sharing this. I might even grow dandalions just so I can add it to my diet! Thanks again! I Hope this works for me. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteis there anything else in the tea?
ReplyDeletethanks
I am very allergic to ragweed and would love to know if anyone has found a sub for the dandelion tea?
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me and others know if you do.
Instead of drinking the tea would a capsule work as well?

I agree it is hard to get rid of the bloating no matter what you do but try a probiotic. It helped me get rid of some of the bloating and I feel better. I have also changed my lifestyle with a diet goal sheet where i can keep track of my meal, calories and fitness plan. It really does make a difference when you plan things out.

Safeway carries unsweetened cranberry (Open Nature brand) in their bottled juice aisle. Also, if at all possible, buy and squeeze your own lemon juice. It's also important to eat as organic, whole, unprocessed foods for best results. Drink plenty of water, avoid caffeine and move your body. Your body will reward you. Good luck!
